“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” – Matthew 18:20

Surely the main goal of corporate prayer in the church is the presence of our Lord in our midst!  The presence of Christ changes everything.  It is Christ that inspires His people to obey His Word, move as He moves, and share the truth!

How do we cultivate such a presence?  We do so when we join together in harmony.  The word in Greek means to flow together as a symphony, like an orchestra.  This comes through prayer, pouring our hearts out to the Lord.

We get to know each other after the Spirit when we spend time in prayer together.  That is why we are exhorted to pray corporately and not just as individuals.

The harvest is ready and white.  The laborers are few.  Jesus said to pray to the Lord of the harvest (Mt. 9:38) that He would send laborers.

We will see many go forth as witnesses as we spend time in prayer – for the presence of Christ will send us out to witness and share the gospel!
